The power head is the main working component of a small rotary drilling rig. It is subjected to significant loads and load variations, making it prone to frequent malfunctions during construction. The abnormal rotation of the power head can be attributed to several factors:

1. Low Pressure Displayed by the Main Pump, Abnormal Rotation of the Power Head:

The relief valve on the oil seat of the power head may be stuck or damaged, resulting in low relief pressure. This situation often presents as normal rotation under no load, but weak or no rotation under load. It is typically caused by neglecting the maintenance of the rotary drilling rig, such as not changing the hydraulic oil for a long time, leading to the valve core sticking. Cleaning or replacing the relief valve core can solve this issue.

2. Low Relief Pressure of the Main Valve Safety Valve:

There is usually a main safety valve and individual relief valves for each valve piece on the main valve. The relief of the main safety valve and the relief valves controlling the power head valve pieces can cause a lack of power. If the main valve relieves pressure, it will result in weak movements such as walking and rotation. Re-adjusting the pressure of the main safety valve or the power head valve piece on the small rotary drilling rig can eliminate the fault.

3. Excessive Wear of the Main Pump Due to Long-Term Use:

Over time, excessive wear of the main pump can cause high-pressure oil leakage, leading to low system pressure. This situation results in a general lack of power throughout the entire rotary drilling rig system. The only solution is to replace or repair the main pump.

4. Excessive Wear of the Power Head Motor:

Oil leakage between the high and low pressure chambers due to excessive wear of the power head motor results in a lack of power. In this case, replacing or repairing the motor is necessary.

By addressing these potential issues, the performance and reliability of the rotary drilling rig can be maintained, ensuring efficient and effective operation.
