Identifying Misconceptions About Lubrication in Highway Guardrail Pile Drivers

Misconception 1: The more engine oil, the better

In lubrication engineering, insufficient oil can lead to poor lubrication and mechanical accidents. Therefore, many people adhere to the principle of better more than less when lubricating. In fact, this is not the case. Too much oil can not only increase power consumption due to increased resistance from the crankshaft's rotation but also lead to the oil easily forming bubbles, emulsifying, and leaking, causing poor lubrication.

Misconception 2: When buying engine oil, people think that oil with a higher viscosity is better for the engine than oil with a lower viscosity

In fact, when choosing engine oil, it should be based on the condition of the guardrail pile driver itself, not just assuming that the higher quality or grade is better. In reality, the oil that is suitable for one's own machinery is the best. Choosing an oil with too high a viscosity grade can cause poor pumping performance of the oil pump, reduced flow, and worsen its lubricity, washability, and heat dissipation, leading to semi-dry friction of the parts, causing bearing burnout, shaft seizing, and other failures.

Misconception 3: Changing oil unchangeably as instructed

Many people believe that as long as the oil is changed on time according to the instructions, there should be no problem. However, this is not the case. When the guardrail pile driver is first introduced, its performance in various aspects is relatively good, and naturally, oil changes can be carried out regularly. But after the machine has been used for a certain period, the wear and tear on various parts become greater, so oil changes and lubrication should be based on the actual situation, not unchanged.
