How to Maintain and Service the Rotary Reducer of a Small Rotary Drilling Rig?

Maintenance of Rotary Reducer in Rotary Drilling Rigs

Since we are engaged in the business of rotary drilling rigs, we must have a thorough understanding of every part of the rotary drilling rig. This knowledge is essential to diagnose and resolve issues promptly when the rig encounters a malfunction. The rotary reducer of the rotary drilling rig is a component of the rotary mechanism and is equally important for the rig. This article shares some insights on the maintenance of the rotary reducer.

The main maintenance work for the rotary reducer of the rotary drilling rig involves checking and replacing the lubricating oil. The oil gauge is located on the rotary device behind the boom base. To inspect the oil gauge, remove it and ensure the oil level is between the top of the gauge and the mark on the gauge. If necessary, add oil through the gauge tube and then reinsert the gauge. To replace the lubricating oil of the rotary drilling rig's rotary reducer, first remove the inspection cover located under the rotary reducer. Detach the drain hose from the fixture on the upper frame, and point the end of the hose towards a container. Use a universal joint with an extension sleeve to loosen the valve inside the hole and drain the oil into an appropriate container. Tighten the drain valve, hang the drain hose on the fixture ensuring the hose end is facing upwards, remove the oil gauge, and refill a specified amount of oil through the gauge tube, keeping the oil level between the top of the gauge and the mark on the gauge.

That covers the maintenance of the rotary reducer in small rotary drilling rigs. Remember to follow these instructions when maintaining the rotary mechanism of small rotary drilling rigs in the future.
