Currently, highway guardrail pile drivers commonly used in construction are mainly divided into two types: loader-mounted guardrail pile drivers and small four-wheel guardrail pile drivers. Below are the structures and characteristics of these two types of equipment.
1. Loader-Mounted Guardrail Pile Driver: This is a new type of guardrail pile driving equipment improved based on the chassis of a loader. This equipment has stable performance, a low failure rate (due to the mature technology of the loader chassis), good braking performance, strong power, off-road four-wheel drive (good maneuverability), and quick transitions. Because this equipment is larger, it does not have the small size of a four-wheel guardrail pile driver during construction. It is more suitable for highway construction in mountainous and plateau regions.
2. Small Four-Wheel Highway Guardrail Pile Driver: This is a homemade chassis pile driving equipment. This equipment is also commonly used in the construction of highway protective nets. It has advantages such as being lightweight, flexible, and easy to operate, making it favored by most builders. However, its braking, power, and maneuverability are not as good as the loader-mounted guardrail pile driver. Since the homemade chassis does not provide chassis stability, the small four-wheel drive is hydraulically driven, and the power does not include four-wheel drive power. The equipment needs to be assisted by a truck for close-range driving, increasing consumption. The small four-wheel guardrail pile driver is more suitable for construction in plain areas.
