Today, we will discuss the effects of fuel contamination on pile drivers. One common phenomenon of fuel contamination in pile drivers is water adulteration. In short, a high water content in fuel accelerates the friction of the injection pump plunger, plunger sleeve, and nozzle needle valve, leading to decreased injection pressure, poor atomization, black smoke, and reduced engine power.

High-quality diesel fuel should have a water content of less than 0.03%. An increased water content significantly impacts fuel quality, including:

Reduced viscosity, which lowers the lubricating performance of associated components like injectors and oil pumps, reducing lubrication protection for needle valve sealing surfaces and accelerating part wear.

Water entering the diesel from external sources may contain numerous impurities and various inorganic salts, exacerbating the wear and corrosion of injector mating surfaces and sealing surfaces.

Increased water content promotes the proliferation of bacteria in the fuel tank.

Low-viscosity fuel with high water content prevents the formation of a good oil film on the surface of fine filters, aiding in the filtration of impurities, allowing larger particle impurities to pass through the filter element. Additionally, the filter element can sustain significant damage due to the influence of moisture and impurities, resulting in poor filtration capacity.

Furthermore, if excessive dust mixes with the fuel, it will accelerate the friction of the injection pump plunger, plunger sleeve, outlet valve, injector needle valve, and the check valve of the transmission pump. In severe cases, this leads to decreased injection pressure, poor atomization, black smoke, and reduced engine power.
