Causes of High Temperature Faults in Pile Drivers

High temperatures in pile drivers can generally be divided into high temperatures in the transmission (transfer case), hydraulic oil, and engine coolant (commonly referred to as high water temperature). The internal gearbox of the pile driver is one of the main causes of high temperatures because the bearings and gears need to grind with high intensity when running with the pile driver's body. In such cases, if the matched gears' size or shape is inconsistent, or if substandard products are used, or the lubricating oil is insufficient, the internal water temperature of the pile driver engine can become too high. This could be due to habitual reasons, improper ignition operation by the operator, insufficient engine power at startup, cooling system failure, etc., leading to an increase in the internal water temperature of the engine. Before the common rail electronic injection diesel engine in pile drivers, hydraulic oil overheating could also cause high water temperature because the hydraulic oil radiator is installed upstream of the cooling air of the water tank. An oil cooler malfunction is also one of the main factors that cause the internal oil temperature of the engine to rise rapidly, leading to a sharp decline in the lubrication performance of the pile driver, thereby forcing the operating resistance of the internal components of the engine to increase significantly, resulting in greater wear and tear, and higher energy consumption. Moreover, due to the high temperature of the oil cooler, the engine's cooling effect is almost lost, increasing the engine's high temperature. Additionally, engine crankshaft deformation and too small crankshaft clearance can also cause high temperatures due to engine power consumption.

Hydraulic control is very important for pile drivers, and this is also an area we often forget to maintain. If there is a detection fault in the hydraulic system, it is very common for high temperature faults to occur in the engine of the pile driver. High temperature in hydraulic oil: The main reason is that it heats up too quickly and cools down too slowly. If the seals within the hydraulic pump and tank are incorrect or not tight, the hydraulic oil is likely to generate a large amount of heat due to the filter element being blocked or the hydraulic system pipeline being clogged, leading to internal leakage in the hydraulic pump. For various reasons, the temperature of the hydraulic oil in the pile driver can rise sharply, and it's difficult to identify the cause. We can only check from the source. First, check if there is a fault in the hydraulic oil radiator part, such as blockage, and then check if external parts cannot be replaced due to excessive long-term accumulation of ash. If no problems are found after these checks, then the reason is that the hydraulic oil did not enter the hydraulic radiator because the hydraulic oil radiator is a necessary path for the hydraulic oil. If the problem is not with the radiator, then it is at the source.
