Highway guardrail pile drivers should not enter work areas with high-voltage power lines. The work area should have clear signs or fencing, and non-operating personnel are not allowed to enter. During the hammering process, operators must supervise from a distance of more than 5 meters away from the pile hammer. Before operation, the lifting gear should be used to lift the upper piston slightly higher than the upper cylinder, open the oil reservoir cap, and fill it with lubricating oil according to the regulations. For actively lubricated pile hammers, a special oil pump should be used to add lubricating oil to the lubrication pipeline, and air should be removed from the pipeline.

For newly commissioned pile hammers, 0.5L of lubricating oil should be poured around the upper piston in advance, and a certain amount of lubricating oil should be added to the lower piston using an oil gun. Check all fastening bolts, and especially inspect the guide plate's fixing bolts, ensuring no operation takes place if there are any looseness or missing parts. Confirm that all operating mechanisms of the lifting gear are safe and reliable, with the contact line between the starting hook and the upper piston being between 5-10mm.

During operation, it's crucial to check whether the lubricating oil from the upper piston is leaking from the oil hole. When the lower cylinder is lubricated by an active oil pump, the oil pipe head should be opened frequently to check for oil spray; when there is no active oil pump, lubricating oil should be added to the lubrication point of the lower piston every 15 minutes. If the time taken to drive a single pile exceeds 15 minutes, lubricating oil should be added immediately after completion. Before starting the pile hammer, ensure the pile hammer, pile cap, and pile are aligned on the same axis, and do not drive piles off-center.

When starting the pile hammer in soft soil layers with significant penetration depth, first operate the pile hammer with the throttle closed for a cold start until the penetration depth per hit is less than 100mm, then open the throttle to start the pile hammer. During the piling process, a dedicated person should be responsible for pulling the control rope on the articulated arm; in case of emergencies, the control rope can be used for an urgent stop. When the water level in the water jacket drops below the lower cylinder's intake and exhaust ports due to evaporation, it should be replenished promptly, and operation without water is prohibited.
