What are the main reasons for tire slippage of foundation pile drivers during construction?

Summer is just around the corner, followed by the rainy season. Due to the existence of wheeled foundation pile drivers, it's inevitable to experience tire slippage during construction in the rainy season. To better utilize and accelerate project progress, let's learn about the main causes of slippage and how to deal with them:

1. Mud Causes

Pile foundation machines usually slip at the bottom of the sublayer. The reason is that when mud is used repeatedly, mud is created by increasing its concentration and specific gravity. The drill bit is not placed at the bottom of the hole but is pushed into it. Then, due to the high-speed rotation of the drill bit, the mud exhibits a negative effect, lubricating the bottom clay and the cutting surface of the drill teeth, causing the mud to act as a lubricant for slippage.

2. Geological Reasons

Some geologies consist of mudstone with low compressive strength, only about 550kPa, but are very dense. They become slippery when in contact with water. To solve the problem of mudstone slipping, it is necessary to fully address the above three causes, and efforts must be made in selecting the drill bit. The operator must have specific working experience.

3. Improper Operating Methods

For example, forcing the drill at the bottom of the hole during the drilling process causes the next drilling to slip. Lifting the drill bit without fully closing the bucket door allows soil from the bucket to fall to the bottom of the drill hole, which is also a cause of slippage.

4. Drilling Causes

Due to the difference between the drill bit and the drill rod, the angle of the drill teeth is less than 45 degrees, insufficient central cone, too high tooth density, and severe wear of the drill bit, leading to slippage.

5. Other Reasons

For example, the power head speed is too fast, there is no correspondence between speed and velocity, structural reasons, insufficient pressure, bending of the drill rod after long-term use, and these can also lead to slippage.
