Causes and Solutions for White Smoke from the Exhaust Pipe:
The loader-mounted guardrail pile driver may emit white smoke due to water in the diesel fuel or water in the cylinder liner, which turns into steam and exits through the exhaust pipe. The main reasons and solutions for diesel engines emitting white smoke are:
1. Water mixed in diesel fuel: Check for the presence of water in the diesel fuel.
2. Improper fuel injection timing: When the fuel injection timing is too early or the diesel engine temperature is low, some of the fuel is not burned and exits with the exhaust gas, forming white smoke. When operating under heavy load with a warm engine, the temperature in the combustion chamber and exhaust pipe increases. Diesel fuel that cannot be fully burned in the combustion chamber continues to decompose in the exhaust pipe, resulting in black smoke. Check if the fuel injection timing is correct.
3. Poor atomization of the fuel injector: If the fuel injector seals poorly, atomizes poorly, or even drips oil, the oil entering the cylinder may not mix and burn in time, leading to white smoke. If the fuel injector drips oil severely or multiple injectors drip oil, diesel may also enter the oil pan, diluting the engine oil. Inspect the fuel injectors and replace the needle valve pair if necessary.
4. Water entering the cylinder liner: A damaged cylinder head gasket, connecting water channels, or cracks in the cylinder liner can cause cooling water to continuously seep into the cylinder. During exhaust, the expelled hot air stream evaporates or disperses the water, forming water mist or steam and exiting as white smoke. If white paper is placed at the exhaust pipe outlet, it will get sprayed with fine water droplets. Investigate the cause of the water leak.
