Pile Driver

Let's all learn about what not to do when starting a pile driver on the road!

When using a highway pile driver, regarding how to start it, as a manufacturer of pile drivers, let us learn together what should not be done when starting a highway pile driver!

1. Do not start without coolant or with boiling water

Adding coolant after the engine has started can cause important components like the cylinder liner and cylinder head to crack or deform due to the sudden cooling; similarly, adding boiling water at 100°C to a cold engine can cause the cylinder head and engine body to crack. Coolant should only be added when its temperature drops to 60-70°C.

2. Do not start by towing

Starting the engine by towing when the engine oil is cold and viscous can intensify wear between moving parts, thus reducing the lifespan of the engine.

3. Do not neglect timely changes of oil and fuel

In winter, if low viscosity oil and fuel are not used in time, it will be difficult to start the engine.

4. Do not start by heating the oil pan and intake pipe with fire

To prevent fire, gently heat the engine's oil pan with a soft fire or coal fire from a distance, while slowly turning the crankshaft to evenly heat the oil, ensuring lubrication to all parts. Starting the engine by igniting the intake pipe can cause ash and hard particles from combustion to be sucked into the cylinder, causing the intake and exhaust valves to close improperly and accelerating cylinder wear.

5. Do not use electric plugs or flame preheaters for long periods

Electric plugs and flame preheaters use electric heating elements, which consume a lot of electricity and generate significant heat. Prolonged use can damage the battery due to rapid discharge, and also burn out the heating elements. Therefore, the continuous use of electric plugs should not exceed 1 minute, and flame preheaters should be used for no more than 20 seconds at a time.

6. Do not directly add engine oil to the cylinder

Adding engine oil to the cylinder can help with sealing, pressurization, and heating, facilitating cold engine starts. However, the oil cannot be completely burned and can lead to carbon buildup, weakening the elasticity of piston rings and reducing the sealing performance of the cylinder. Additionally, it can accelerate wear on the cylinder sleeve, decrease engine power, and make starting even more difficult. Therefore, engine oil should not be directly added to the cylinder.

7. Do not continuously start for long periods

The starter on the engine operates under low voltage and high current conditions. Prolonged use can damage the battery. The continuous operating time should not exceed 10 seconds; if it fails to start once, wait 15 seconds before trying again.

8. Do not run at high speeds immediately after starting

When the engine has just started, the oil is cold and has poor flow properties. Immediately running at high speeds can cause rapid wear of moving parts due to lack of lubrication, and in severe cases, can lead to bearing seizure and damage.
