Excavator Skills
Start Up Without Rushing
The engine of the excavator needs to circulate oil through the oil pump for a while during a cold start to provide reliable lubrication to the moving parts. Thus, do not rush to throttle up immediately after starting. Let it idle for a few minutes before gradually increasing the throttle. However, avoid idling for too long, as this can also harm the excavator.
Tip: A 5-minute idle is sufficient to protect the engine.
Use Bucket and Boom Together
In hard digging conditions, some operators use the bucket to pry hard objects. This can create high pressure on the bucket teeth due to the lever principle, leading to wear and potential cracks or breaks in the shovel plate.
Tip: Use the bucket and boom together for digging, which automatically adjusts the force within a suitable range, providing protection.
Do Not Assume in Operation
When excavating rocks, some operators use the force of the bucket dropping to impact the rocks. This can bend or deform the bucket and boom due to excessive force, and may even cause breakage.
Tip: For large stones or hard materials, use other methods to break them down first before excavation.
Avoid Using Rotation and Bucket for Leveling
When working on uneven terrain, do not attempt to level the ground using rotation and the bucket, especially with abrupt turns and stops. The bucket may hit hidden hard rocks in the soil, damaging it and severely affecting the rotational mechanism, thus shortening its lifespan.
Do Not Randomly Park the Excavator; Be Mindful of the Parking Area
Do not park the excavator haphazardly after finishing work. Incorrect parking can cause trouble, harm, or even irreparable damage to the excavator.
Tip: Avoid parking in areas like uneven ground, near construction zones, under high-rise buildings, in low-lying waterlogged areas, on slopes, near rivers, at the base of mountains, or close to cliffs.
