What are the improper operating methods for a crawler foundation pile driver?

Wear and malfunctions during the construction with a crawler foundation pile driver are normal. However, improper operation by the operator can affect the use of the pile driver, accelerate the wear of parts, and shorten its lifespan. What are the improper operations on a crawler foundation pile driver?

1. Improper Use of Hydraulic Oil: Hydraulic components are abundant in construction machinery and require sufficient hydraulic oil. When hydraulic oil in the pile driver needs to be replaced due to long-term use and performance degradation, some people incorrectly think that only the oil in the hydraulic tank should be drained and replaced with new oil. However, a significant amount of old hydraulic oil still remains in the hydraulic pipes and control valves. The mixed use of new and old oil during the construction of the pile driver will accelerate the aging of the new oil.

2. Improper Preheating Start: To save time, some pile driver operators may use an abnormal method of starting without water (starting first, then adding cooling water). This method can seriously damage the machine and should be prohibited. The correct preheating method is to first cover the water tank with insulation, open the drain valve, and then continuously pour 60-70°C clean and soft water into the tank. When the water flowing out of the drain valve feels hot, close the valve. Fill the tank with 90-100°C clean and soft water and crank the engine to properly pre-lubricate all moving parts before starting.

3. Improper Selection of Hydraulic Components: The specification of the boom cylinder is 70/40 non-standard series, and the seals are also non-standard. This leads to high manufacturing costs and inconvenient replacement of seals. The small diameter of the boom cylinder inevitably results in higher system set pressure.

4. Improper Design of Hydraulic System: The control valve and the full hydraulic steering of the pile driver are connected in series with a single pump. The set pressure of the safety valve is 16MPA, and the rated working pressure of the hydraulic pump is also 16MPA. The hydraulic pump often operates under full load or long-term overload (high pressure), and the system is subject to hydraulic shocks and oil contamination, exacerbating wear on the hydraulic pump, leading to pump casing cracks.
