Dry weather increases fire risk, how to prevent fires? Pile driver maintenance tips for autumn!

As autumn arrives, the weather cools down. In the gradually drying climate and environment with significant temperature differences between day and night, there are often incidents of pile drivers catching fire in the autumn each year. The dry autumn season makes it easy for even a small spark to cause serious consequences. Furthermore, low temperatures always make machinery more fragile and prone to malfunction. Therefore, it's crucial to regularly inspect and maintain pile drivers and operate them correctly to prevent such accidents.

In dry conditions, how can one prevent fire?

Here are a few maintenance tips for pile drivers in autumn for your reference.

  • When transporting, moving, or operating a pile driver, it's important to avoid contact with electrical wires, as this can lead to serious accidents and casualties.

  • During refueling, it's essential to shut off the engine and refuel the pile driver away from any sources of fire. It's also important not to leave the machine unattended while refueling.

  • While refueling, care must be taken to ensure that fuel does not spill onto overheated surfaces or components of the electrical system.

    • It's crucial to promptly remove any accumulated or adhered leaves, wood chips, paper, and other flammable materials from the engine, exhaust pipe, muffler, and the interior of the engine compartment.

    • Oil-soaked rags should not be kept inside the machine to avoid the risk of spontaneous ignition and fire.

    • Users should equip the machine with a fire extinguisher, placed in a location that is easily accessible.

    • When welding on the machine, it is strictly forbidden to do so without isolating the hydraulic oil pipelines and fuel lines.

    • To prevent fires caused by hydraulic pipelines, it is necessary to check that all hose clamps, protective covers, and cushioning pads on hoses and pipes are securely fixed in place. If these are loose, they can vibrate during operation and rub against other components, leading to hose damage. This damage can result in high-pressure oil spraying out, posing a risk of fire or severe injury.

    • The battery should be kept away from sources of fire and high temperatures to avoid the risk of explosion.

    • In case of a fire, do not use water to extinguish it. Instead, use a powder fire extinguisher, smother the fire with sand, or use a cover or tarp to suffocate the flames.
