Summer Maintenance Tips for Construction Machinery!

The weather is getting hotter, and it's one thing, but why does my excavator also seem to lack power while working?

In hot and sultry weather, not only do we need to be mindful of heat prevention, but the excavator also needs attention in this regard. Excavators can experience a variety of malfunctions due to high temperatures. If you want to reduce these malfunctions during your regular work, remember the following tips.

Maintenance Tip 1: Constantly Monitor the Water Temperature Gauge to Prevent Dehydration

During high-temperature weather, always check the coolant level and monitor the water temperature gauge. If you find that the auxiliary water tank is low, run the engine at idle to cool it down before adding water. Be careful not to open the radiator cap immediately to avoid burns.

Maintenance Tip 2: Prevent Engine Oil Degradation

Lubricating oil becomes thinner when heated, reducing its viscosity and lubrication performance, and it can easily degrade, leading to reduced oxidation resistance and potential issues like bearing seizure. Therefore, switch to a lubricating oil specifically for summer use, frequently check the oil level and quality, and change it as needed.

Maintenance Tip 3: Timely Clean Engine Exterior Oil Stains

Thick oil stains on the engine exterior can impact cooling and potentially cause faults in various parts. Use a high-pressure spray with a non-corrosive cleaner to clean engine components. Be careful not to spray directly on electrical wiring as it might cause short circuits.

Maintenance Tip 4: Prevent Overheating of the Radiator

In hot weather, the excavator's radiator is prone to overheating. Pay attention to:

1.Regularly replacing the coolant as per the maintenance schedule.

2.Regularly cleaning both the interior and exterior of the radiator to ensure it's clean and unobstructed.

3.Properly installing insulation around the radiator to prevent hot air from recirculating.

4.Adjusting the engine fan belt tension to ensure normal fan speed.

Maintenance Tip 5: Ensure Optimal Fuel Supply Timing

In summer, adjust the excavator's fuel supply timing properly. Early fuel supply can cause engine knocking or even reverse rotation; late supply can lead to weak engine performance. Non-professionals should avoid adjusting this themselves and instead contact a professional engineer for tuning.

Maintenance Tip 6: Choose High-Viscosity Lubricating Oil

High-viscosity lubricating oil in summer improves lubrication performance and increases sealability. When changing the excavator's lubricating oil, thoroughly clean the oil filter, collector, and oil pan.

Maintenance Tip 7: Accurate Use of the Battery

Keep the battery fully charged. If the excavator is not in use for a long time, remove the battery and store it in a ventilated, dry place, recharging it every 15-20 days. Also, keep the battery's exterior clean.

Friendly Reminder

Equipment is prone to faults in high-temperature weather, so proper maintenance is crucial to enhance performance and adapt to high temperatures and working conditions. Regularly track and manage equipment performance to stay updated. In hot weather, operators should take extra care with rest and hydration to avoid fatigue and ensure a safe summer at work.
